STM/Yard Science Summer Camp

Program Overview

An immersive U.S. STEM experience—built for Vietnam’s future innovators.

Each summer, a select group of Vietnamese students (Grades 8–12) is invited to participate in an exclusive academic program at St. Thomas More School in Connecticut, USA. This immersive camp combines rigorous science education with real-world application. Students explore advanced lab experiments, participate in medical dissections, engage in tech-driven innovation workshops, and collaborate on STEM challenges led by experienced U.S. educators.

Beyond academics, the program fosters leadership, confidence, and cultural fluency—giving students a preview of American high school life while preparing them for competitive global university admissions. It’s not just a camp; it’s a launchpad for the next generation of Vietnamese doctors, engineers, and researchers.

Who It’s For

This program is designed for highly motivated Vietnamese students in Grades 8–12 who are interested in medicine, biology, engineering, or other science-related fields. Whether a student dreams of becoming a doctor, a researcher, or a future innovator, this camp provides the ideal environment to grow.

Program Impact

By the end of the program, students return home with:

  • Deeper STEM knowledge

  • Cross-cultural confidence

  • Real exposure to U.S. academic environments

  • A stronger foundation for international education

What Students Experience

    • Over Two Immersive Weeks, Explore Two Key Fields in Modern Medicine
      • In the first week, students dive into Molecular Biology, conducting DNA extractions, electrophoresis, and hands-on lab experiments. In the second week, they shift to Pre-Medical Studies, gaining exposure to anatomy, surgical techniques, and clinical case analysis—simulating the journey of a future doctor or medical researcher.
    • Students choose between two intensive tracks—Molecular Biology or Pre-Medical Studies.
    • Hands-On Science Labs: Dissections, microscopy, simulations, and lab-based learning that mirrors early university-level instruction.
    • Instruction by U.S. Experts: All sessions are led by experienced American science educators and professionals.
    • Boarding School Experience: Students live on the St. Thomas More campus, gaining a unique insight into U.S. academic life and culture.
    • Collaborative Projects: Students work in teams to solve real-world science problems, developing communication and leadership skills.
    • STEM Career Pathways: Exposure to various careers in medicine, biotechnology, healthcare, and engineering.

What Makes It Special

  • Academic & Cultural Immersion: Students learn in a fully English-speaking environment, building confidence and fluency while making international friends.

  • College Preparation: This program adds significant value to a student’s academic profile and helps shape compelling stories for future university applications.

  • Fully Supported Experience: Housing, meals, supervision, and on-campus activities are all included for a safe and enriching experience.

Note: While our dual enrollment program with St. Thomas More School is exclusively available to Vietnamese students through PAVE, this summer camp is open to international participants—with special coordination and access provided for Vietnam.

Daily Life, Dining, and Discovery

In addition to its academic rigor, the STM/Yard Science Summer Camp is a complete cultural and personal development experience. Students are housed in clean, secure dormitories on the St. Thomas More campus, with 24/7 staff support and structured daily routines.

All meals are provided in the school’s dining hall, offering a variety of nutritious, Western-style options, with accommodations for vegetarian and allergy-sensitive diets.

Outside the classroom, students participate in guided field trips to museums, science centers, local universities, and cultural landmarks. These excursions enrich the learning experience while providing a broader perspective on American life and global science.
