We partner with leading academic programs like Yard Sciences to offer students extended learning opportunities beyond the standard curriculum. These semester- or year-long programs emphasize hands-on research, project-based learning, and academic exploration—helping students deepen their knowledge, build critical skills, and prepare for future academic success.
Yard Sciences is an immersive academic program that engages students in hands-on exploration of the hard sciences, including biology, chemistry, and physics. Through expert mentorship and structured guidance, students dive deep into scientific research by designing and conducting independent experiments that mirror real-world lab practices. The program emphasizes the scientific method, evidence-based thinking, and technical skill development in a supportive learning environment.
Beyond experimentation, Yard Sciences helps students develop critical thinking, data analysis, and scientific communication skills. Participants are encouraged to take ownership of their projects, culminating in presentations at regional or national science fairs. Whether students are aiming for STEM careers or simply want to challenge themselves academically, Yard Sciences provides a rigorous, enriching foundation for future success in science.

Among these students, 16% progress to national and international levels, reflecting the program’s emphasis on advanced inquiry and excellence in execution. Yard Sciences alumni have reached prestigious competitions such as the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF), earning national recognition for their innovative research and scientific contributions.
In terms of accolades, Yard Sciences students have received 50 special awards, often granted by professional scientific organizations or sponsors recognizing originality, relevance, and impact. Additionally, they have earned 46 category awards, highlighting subject-matter expertise across disciplines such as biology, chemistry, environmental science, and engineering.
The tangible success of this mentorship is further underscored by the $151,100 in scholarships and awards earned by Yard Sciences students. These achievements not only open doors for future academic opportunities but also validate the program’s commitment to nurturing high-level, competitive science talent.
With over 37 student participants, Yard Sciences continues to foster a vibrant, high-performance research community that prepares young scientists for academic distinction and long-term STEM success.
Beyond science fairs, Yard Sciences supports students in conducting year-long or semester-based independent research projects. These projects often mirror collegiate-level research experiences, with students working closely with mentors who hold advanced degrees and have extensive experience in academic and professional laboratories.
Mentorship in this module includes developing literature reviews, designing original experiments, conducting controlled trials, and interpreting complex data sets. Students are introduced to best practices in scientific writing, citations, and reporting, enabling them to produce polished and publication-ready research reports. Through one-on-one sessions and collaborative reviews, mentors help students refine their scientific thinking, problem-solving approaches, and analytical skills.
This module serves as a bridge between classroom science and real-world application, preparing students for advanced coursework, internships, and competitive university admissions. Many students also choose to submit their final research papers to youth science journals or university-hosted competitions.
The Yard Sciences program is designed not only to support individual projects but to foster a lifelong passion for science and a deeper understanding of how rigorous research is conducted. Through sustained mentorship, students cultivate academic discipline, intellectual independence, and a growth mindset.
This module focuses on the broader educational value of scientific research. Students are encouraged to reflect critically on their findings, understand the societal and ethical implications of their work, and communicate scientific ideas clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. Mentors provide insight into academic and career pathways in STEM, helping students identify future research interests and potential university programs.
Over time, participants in Yard Sciences develop a strong foundation in scientific literacy, leadership, and presentation skills. Many alumni have gone on to pursue competitive STEM degrees, earn scholarships, and contribute meaningfully to the global scientific community.
